Psychological Therapy
Individual Therapy for Relational Trauma, Burnout & Anxiety
Online or face to face in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Many people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and managing day‑to‑day life, yet still feel the impact of earlier experiences. You might be juggling work, parenting, and relationships while privately dealing with anxiety, exhaustion, or self‑criticism.
Therapy offers a steady, confidential space to understand what’s happening and feel more grounded. If you’d like a broader overview of my approach, you can also read more about me as a Clinical Psychologist in Stamford on my About page.
Common Reasons People Seek Therapy
You may recognise:
- anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout
- feeling you should “do more” yet never feeling good enough
- emotional exhaustion
- harsh self‑criticism or self‑doubt
- old messages from the past resurfacing
- difficulty trusting your judgement
- holding back at work or in relationships
These experiences are common and can be helped by psychological therapy.

What You May Be Hoping For
- greater self‑kindness
- clarity about what matters
- more confidence in your judgement
- rest and meaningful self‑care
- feeling less unsettled by triggers or memories
- steadier relationships and boundaries
Therapy supports you to move towards these experiences in a grounded, sustainable way.
Understanding Long‑Standing Emotional Patterns
Stress, trauma, or emotionally unsafe experiences can shape adult patterns such as:
- high self‑criticism
- taking on too much
- emotional shutdown
- difficulty trusting others
- feeling “not good enough”
- appearing capable while feeling unsettled inside
Therapy offers a safe, structured space to explore these patterns and understand why they developed.
How Therapy Helps
Together, we work to:
- make sense of emotional responses
- understand the origins of self‑criticism or over‑responsibility
- soften shame by seeing reactions in context
- build a steadier, more compassionate relationship with yourself
- feel more grounded and less overwhelmed
- develop clearer boundaries and more secure connections
The work is paced, collaborative and always within your window of tolerance.

What Sessions Look Like
Sessions are structured but flexible. We may explore:
- how patterns developed
- how past relationships shaped responses
- what happens in your body during overwhelm
- how to soften shame and build self‑compassion
- how to feel more grounded day to day
Safety is central. We don’t move into trauma memories before you have the stability to manage them.
Is This Approach Right for You?
This therapy may be a good fit if you:
- function well day to day but feel unsettled internally
- struggle with self‑criticism, shame, or emotional shutdown
- feel disconnected in relationships
- carry distressing memories or trauma responses
- want to understand and change long‑standing patterns
If your Christian faith is important to you, you may like to look at my dedicated page on faith‑informed therapy for Christians.
You might also have previously accessed NHS Talking Therapy services, reached the natural end of that support, and now want a more flexible, personalised space that isn’t limited to diagnostic labels.
It’s not suitable, if you are feeling very low, at risk, or in need of more intensive support. This is because I work short hours and cannot offer between‑session contact. If this is the case for you, it may be that another service would be better placed to offer the level of care you deserve. I would encourage you to talk to your GP in the first instance.
What Sets My Approach Apart
- flexible therapy contracts, including longer‑term work
- integrative approach with optional focus on faith, parenting, or identity
- online or face‑to‑face sessions in a calm clinic
- optional use of HelloSelf (questionnaires, goals, transcripts, messaging)
- flexible feedback formats
- option of a regular therapy slot for predictability

My Clinical Expertise
- Doctorate‑level training
- BABCP‑accredited CBT psychotherapist
- 28+ years post‑qualification NHS experience
- extensive experience with emotional, relational, and trauma‑related difficulties
I’m drawn to supporting people who’ve learned to be hard on themselves or stay on guard with others as a way of coping. Therapy helps you understand where these patterns came from, how they once protected you, and how to build a more compassionate and confident relationship with yourself.
